Pilot Program • Overview

The Wheaton Park District prides itself on providing opportunities for everyone. The Pilot Basketball program is another effort to do so and provides an opportunity for neighbors and schoolmates to play together. This program is unique because the games and practices are held at the schools which participants attend. This program continues to be successful because of the wonderful volunteer coaches and parents.

Please select your school from the list below for more information about a specific Pilot Basketball program:

Lincoln Elementary School

630 Dawes Ave.
Wheaton, Illinois 60189

Grades: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th (Corec)

Players must live within the Lincoln school boundary. The program runs from early January through mid March. Each team will have two practices prior to the beginning of the season. Games are once a week on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday at Lincoln School.

Registration is first come, first served at the Wheaton Park District. Registration forms are distributed by the school. Registration fee includes a team jersey; make checks payable to Wheaton Park District. The registration deadline is the first Monday in December. Teams are formed by random draw.

Longfellow Elementary School

Wheaton, Illinois 60187

Grades: 4th and 5th (Corec)

Players must live within the Longfellow school boundary. The program runs from early January through mid March. Each team will have two practices prior to the beginning of the season. Games are once a week on Wednesday or Thursday at Longfellow School.

Registration is first come, first served at the Wheaton Park District. Registration forms are distributed by the school. Registration fee includes a team jersey; make checks payable to Wheaton Park District. The registration deadline is the first Monday in December. Teams are formed based on Gym Teacher ratings.

If you are interested in coaching or assistant coaching please indicate that on your child’s registration. There is a coach meeting in early January. Coaches will be notified of this meeting date.

Lowell Elementary School

Grades: 3rd, 4th, 5th (Corec); 3rd-5th (Girls)

Players must live within the Lowell school boundary. The program runs from early January through mid March. Each team will have two practices prior to the season beginning. Games are once a week on Monday or Wednesday at Lowell School. Leagues may be reconfigured based on registration levels.

Registration is first come, first served at the Wheaton Park District. Registration forms are distributed by the school. Registration fee includes a team jersey; make checks payable to Wheaton Park District. The deadline for registration is the last day prior to Winter Break in December. Teams are formed by random draw.

Madison Elementary School

Grades: Corec 3rd, 4th-5th (Corec)

Players must live within the Madison school boundary. The program runs from early November through mid March. Each team will have three practices prior to the season beginning. Games are once or twice a week on Monday, Tuesday or Thursday at Madison Elementary.

Registration is first come, first served at the Wheaton Park District. Registration forms are distributed by the school. Registration fee includes a team jersey; make checks payable to Wheaton Park District. The deadline for registration is the first Monday in December. Teams are formed by random draw.

Pleasant Hill Elementary School

Grades: 3rd-4th, 5th (Corec)

Players must live within the Pleasant Hill school boundary. The program runs from mid November through mid March. Two practices will be held prior to the season beginning. Games will be held on Tuesday for the 3rd and 4th graders; Thursday for the 5th graders.

Registration is first come, first served at the Wheaton Park District. Registration forms are distributed by the school. Make checks payable to Wheaton Park District. The deadline for registration is the first Monday in December. Teams are formed by random draw.

Whittier Elementary School

Players must live within the Whittier school boundary. The program runs from early January through mid March. Each team will have two practices prior to the season beginning. Games are once a week on Monday or Thursday at Whittier School.

Registration includes a team jersey; make checks payable to Wheaton Park District. The registration deadline is the last day prior to Winter Break in December. Teams are formed by random draw.

Wiesbrook Elementary School

Grades: 3rd-4th, 5th-6th (Corec); 3rd-4th, 5th-6th (Girls)

Players in 3rd-5th Grades must live within the Wiesbrook school boundary, 6th Grade players must live within the school boundary of Hubble Middle School. The program runs from early December through mid March. Games or practices are once or twice a week on Monday through Thursday at Wiesbrook Elementary.

Registration is first come, first served at the Wheaton Park District. Registration forms are distributed by the school. Registration includes a team jersey; make checks payable to Wheaton Park District. The registration deadline is the first Monday in November. Teams are formed by draft from the coaches. There is an Evaluation Night held at Wiesbrook. The teams are drafted right after. This date will be communicated after registration.
