Player Commitment

What is the time commitment to play for the Wheaton Wings?

There are ten (five home/five away) games played plus one tournament tournament in the fall seson and eight games played in the spring season plus one tournament. Teams  train at least two times a week for an hour-and-a-half practice each day.  Each team receives a five day preseason camp in the beginning of August.  Boys’ teams going to the seeding tournament have a four-day camp.  Starting in the fall of 2011, there will be club goalie training for the first four Saturdays of the fall and the first two Saturdays of the spring that are now part of the registration fee.

New for the 2011-2012 season…each team will participate in a winter training session, one time a week for 11 weeks, with a Future Pros trainer starting the beginning of January.  A team that is playing at a high level, or a team that is playing at an older age group, may be selected to train three times a week.  A third team training session will cost an additional $251 per player.  Players are told when they are selected, if this applies.  An optional third club training is offered to players for an additional cost if their team does not get selected for a third team training day.  The Wheaton Wings Soccer Club is running a tournament on May 19-20, 2012 as a fund-raiser to help keep the cost of the program down in the future.  Parents are required to volunteer to work at some time during the tournament.
