Batting Cages
Why use the Atten Park batting cages?
- Pick up an extra practice in between games.
- Allows coaches time to concentrate on hitting and use their scheduled field time to work on other disciplines.
Reservations
- Should be made either in person at the Community Center or by calling 630-690-4880.
- May be made one week in advance of the reservation date.
- Reservations for the current date are accepted only if time slots are available.

Sat.: 10am-6pm, 5pm final time slot
Hours of operation may fluctuate due to baseball tournaments. During tournament time, hitting times will be blocked off on the schedule and may be purchased on site.

Reservation Policy (Revised: March, 2005)
RESERVATION INFORMATION
Reservations to use the batting cages should be made either in person at the Community Center or by calling 690-4880. Reservations may be made one week in advance of the reservation day. Reservations for that day will be accepted only if time slots are available and before the sheets are picked up (please initial).
Monday - Friday: picked up at 3:30 pm
Saturday: picked up at 8:30 am
Only one reservation will be allowed per phone call per day. One week in advance of desired day. No reservations after 3 p.m. for the same day.
Reservations are for one-hour time slots. Back-to-back scheduling is permitted up to two hours for one cage only or both cages for one hour maximum.
Reservations should be cancelled two hours prior to intended use or a $10 fee will be charged before the individual is allowed to reserve the batting cage in the future.
Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
The Athletic Supervisor and/or the cage monitor may close early or cancel use due to inclement weather.
STAFFING OF THE BATTING CAGES
The batting cages will be monitored at all times by an employee of the Wheaton Park District.
Monitor Responsibilities
1. Set up pitching machines.
2. Assist in setting speed adjustment for pitching machines and feed machine if requested.
3. Ensure all rules are being followed.
4. Ensure proper use of pitching machines.
5. Ensure that adults (18 & older) are the only personnel operating the pitching machines. No one under 18 may operate the machines under any circumstances.
6. Sign in coaches and teams.
7. Collect payment or token.
8. Take down pitching machines and lock cages.
9. Report any incidents, damage, misuse, unruly users, etc. to Athletic Supervisor.
10. Pick up and return cash box and reservation sheets.
Payment for Cage Time
1. Cage time is $10 per hour/cage for Wheaton Park District Youth Baseball/Softball teams and Wheaton Briarcliffe Baseball/Softball teams.
2. Cage time for residents is $15 per hour/cage.
3. Cage time for nonresidents is $20 per hour/cage.
4. There are no refunds.
Purchasing Cage Time
1. Cage time is purchased at the Community Center, 1777 S. Blanchard. Your receipt will be used at Atten Park as payment for your cage time.
2. If you pay at the cage, exact change is preferred.
3. Rainouts will be rescheduled at the earliest available time or refunds issued.
During tournaments at Atten Park, cage time will be purchased on site.
BATTING CAGE RULES
1. No person under the age of eight is be permitted to use the cage.
2. All persons in the cage must wear batting helmets at all times.
3. Only one batter is allowed in the cage at any time.
4. Coaching must be done from outside the cages.
5. Wheaton Park District coaches (adults only - 18 & over) will feed the pitching machine while their players are hitting.
6. Any adjustment to the pitching machine will be made by the park district batting cage monitor.
PLEASE NOTE: A coach can reserve both batting cages for one hour maximum, but cannot reserve the batting cages for more than one hour unless open time is available following scheduled use - or if he/she coaches more than one team.
